Publishing

Are you interested in getting your family history Printed into book form? or actually want to see it available on Amazon.com? Until very recently this was incredibly expensive with minimum publishing runs in the hundreds of copies, which is really not practical for Family Histories. However things are looking brighter for those of us that would like to be able to print 5 or 10 or even a 100 copies of our family history in book form, at a time.

To this end the Publishing Department of The Caperton Society has been developed to guide Society members thru the process of publishing their family history or related work, as well as providing tips, and guides and even using the Society if so inclined, to help them publish.

The purpose of publishing your family history is really so you can share your research and findings with family and friends right? Right! to do this it needs to be a format that works for you and your audience. This format is different depending on who your audience is. Some people are very adept at the web and can create their own family history website while others are fine with just pushing up their date to an online database while still others like the feel of paper between their fingers that give them the sense that their work will be around for posterity, while some choose a middle road of CD/DVD where they can combine photos Videos and documentes on the same media. Below are listed the major categories along with tips to help you in your creation of your perfect solution.

Publishing via print

If you prefer the look and feel of you family history on paper, then there are several options to choose from, including printing it on your own and using a home binding method like comb bind or taking your paper to an office store and having them bind them for you, alternately if you want the look and feel of a softcover or hard cover book, The Caperton Society can help.

The Caperton Society has established a way to help its members publish their family histories. Thru Society sponsorship, the Society will guide you thru the process of getting your family history published. Currently we have two methods set up. These are Softcover and Hardcover Printed books. In the future we hope to offer additional methods.
